Join us in sharing the music and fun of Gilbert & Sullivan!
The purpose of the Society is to promote the works of Gilbert & Sullivan in
the Basel and Dreilaendereck Region by organising relevant events. The Society
is not a choir and we don't ask our members to sing unless they want to! We also
organise some events - particularly the Singalongs - which offer the opportunity
for you to experience the fun of singing Gilbert & Sullivans' music.
The Gilbert & Sullivan Society was set up in 2004 by a group of enthusiasts and professional singers
in order to promote the works of Gilbert & Sullivan in France, Germany and Switzerland from a base in the
Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg region as a non-political, non-religious and not-for-profit entity, run by its
members on a volunteer basis.
This is the first Gilbert & Sullivan Society to be created in the region and it aims to give those in
the region who are familiar with Gilbert & Sullivan the chance to enjoy the music and also to introduce
the fun and music to those who are unfamiliar with these works.
Society activities include trips to performances of Gilbert & Sullivan operas and regular participative
events for members e.g. singalongs, music talks, quizzes, etc. The Society also plans to stage its own
performances. Most events are open to both members and non-members.
